Tower Bridge to be closed for essential maintenance works
From the 1st October to the 30th December 2016 the 122 year old bridge will be closed for essential maintenance works.
The bridge was last refurbished in 1970 and carries around 40,000 people, including 21,000 vehicles a day. This heavy use has taken its toll on the Grade 1 listed landmark and the City of London have stated the work is needed to ensure the bridge can continue to serve as a vital river crossing.
