Road traffic law enforcement inquiry
Monday 12th of October was the last day logistics operators and stakeholders could submit their views regarding the current effectiveness of road traffic law enforcement. The upcoming parliamentary inquiry will cover topics such as the introduction of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) aimed at combating careless drivers.
Other issues up for discussion include the effect downgrading the road traffic enforcement in respect to local authorities has caused, how the use of technology has aided in law enforcement and whether enforcement agencies have the capabilities to uphold the rules on careless and dangerous driving.
The inquiry will also examine the performance of the recently introduced HGV Road User Levy has had on ceasing Non-UK trucks registered operating within the UK.
